A Message From Your Hosts

Man Camp is a 3 day event for men to strip themselves bare of the expectations put upon them by society, and delve deeply into their own sense of purpose.

Unlike other events or groups focusing on “reclaiming your manhood,” this isn’t about beating your chest and acting like a tough guy. And it’s certainly not about learning to trick women into sleeping you, or figuring out scripted routines to help you present yourself as a conglomeration Tyler Durden and the version of yourself you wished existed in high school.

Those things, truthfully, are fine. But it’s not what we do. People have covered those topics ad nauseum — and you know what? It hasn’t made a bit of difference. Studies show that men are increasingly unhappy, unmotivated, and unsure of their role in society and individual relationships.

And that’s why we’ve created Man Camp. Because if another seminar on pick up artistry or business development was really all that was standing in the way of men being happy and successful, things would be fixed. But they’re not.

So Man Camp is not about the bullshit idea of what it means to be “manly.” It’s about separating yourself from the bullshit, and joining in a weekend of radical self analysis, with the intent of finding your true purpose and new capability.

Man Camp is about surrounding yourself with likeminded men who actually understand the difficulties of navigating the ever changing landscape of masculinity in the modern world.

You’ll immerse yourself in three days of learning life skills, fostering brotherhood, and exploring deep concepts most are too weak-willed to discuss.

It’s about learning from and even more importantly connecting with other men who have paved their road of success. The old adage that it isn’t what you know, it’s who you know is absolutely half true – it’s what you know AND who you know. Expanding your network to others who resonate with what you’re doing is a rising tide that lifts all boats.

This is NOT a weekend of esoterica; it is a weekend of pragmatic, practical, actionable advice and skills; this is stuff you can USE, immediately.

Drawing on Stoic philosophy and using the Hero’s Journey as a template, men learn the necessary tools to successfully pass through all of the myriad of Trials by Fire the world throws at us.

Whether it’s starting a new business, going through a divorce, or coping with the death of a loved one, Man Camp is about developing the tools to overcome the difficulties these things present.

So, yes: You’ll learn to be more successful with women, from some of the most successful dating experts on the planet; but this is not about making sex the end all be all of your existence.

And yes, you’ll learn to improve your businesses; but for reasons other than just adding to your bottom line.

Man Camp is about higher concepts that apply equally to the big picture down to the minutia of daily life.

This is about mutually exploring what it means to be a man, and actively seeking to be a better one–every day, in every way.

John Romaniello is an imperfect human who for the first 25 years of his life made it his mission to first hide that fact, and then to fix it. After the futility of these tasks drove him to near-madness, he abandoned perfectionism and instead focused on improvement and self acceptance.

Though known for his works in the fitness industry, Roman has made it his mission to help other men on their journey of self discovery.

Having adapted Campbell’s thesis of the Hero’s Journey into a model of personal development, Romaniello was able to overcome an abusive childhood spent in abject poverty and a middling adolescence languishing in near-obesity to become a millionaire author and fitness model.

He believes that every man has the capacity to do great things, and is simply lacking the tools and the network to help realize their potential.

Roman has been a model, an angel investor, best selling author, entrepreneur, husband, father, and wedding officiant. None of these skills in and of themselves makes anyone a great man, but taken together they form a core of purpose and capability that forge a rich life.

At 34 years old, John doesn’t know everything–and is painfully aware of that fact; that, as Socrates said, is the beginning of wisdom.

For Roman, Man Camp is about helping other men seek their purpose and cultivate capability; seek wisdom and joy. And then pass it on. Man camp is men helping men, and he plans to get just as much out of it as you will.

David Dellanave has been the embodiment of the idea of sprezzatura, or the Italian idea of making difficult things look effortless and artful, from a young age. Always collecting new skills and hobbies, Dellanave can count programming, restoring cars, skydiving, angel investing, cooking, hunting, homebrewing, and traveling extensively among his experiences and skills.

After deciding college wasn’t offering him anything, David left school to found several companies with well-known Internet marketing superstar Jeremy Schoemaker. The two launched a company in 2007 that experienced such explosive growth in the four months after launch they quickly sold it to venture capital firm Lake Capital.

With a major exit under his belt, he turned his attention to his passion for fitness by founding The Movement Minneapolis in 2010. Unsatisfied with the tools available, he used his programming knowledge to develop a completely new fitness tracking software from the ground up that enables the paradigm-shifting biofeedback training he teaches at his facility.

Jade Teta is an integrative physician and personal trainer with over 25 years of experience in the realms of metabolism, natural medicine and self-development. He is the founder & CEO of Metabolic Effect Inc., and author of several best-selling books including The Metabolic Effect. He will speaking on the intricate balance between the nervous system and the male hormonal cascade. You will learn how to eat, train, live and supplement to enhance and sustain sexual potency and stamina.

When the bank asks Bryan Krahn what he does for a living he says he’s a writer and trainer and father of two bulldogs.

In reality, Bryan sells himself short because he’s humble. Bryan fundamentally helps people look how they truly want to look. And then writes about it, amongst other topics.

For the past 20 years he’s worked in the business of helping people build the body they’ve always wanted and feel awesome using a base of scientifically supported industry practices but also a litany of techniques that have been shown to work in the real world (i.e the gym) but have yet to be put through through formal scientific scrutiny. You know, broscience.

You’ll discover that there are many routes to any destination. The trick is finding the best route for the individual traveler.

Tucker Max received his BA from the University of Chicago in 1998, and his JD from Duke Law School in 2001. He even attended Duke Law School on an academic scholarship, where he neglected to buy any of his textbooks for his final two years and spent part of one semester–while still enrolled in classes–living in Cancun.

His first book, I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell, is a #1 New York Times Best Seller, spent five years on the list, and has over 2 million copies in print. His second book, Assholes Finish First, and his third book, Hilarity Ensues, are also NY Times Best Sellers. He co-wrote and produced the movie based on his life/book, also titled “I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell.” He has also been credited with being the originator and leader of a new literary genre, “fratire,” is only the third writer (after Malcolm Gladwell and Michael Lewis) to ever have three books on the NY Times Nonfiction Best Seller List at one time, and was nominated to the Time Magazine 100 Most Influential List in 2009. He currently lives in Austin, Texas.

Anyone who wants to be a better man.

If you’re between 23 and 99, there is SOME piece of your life that isn’t fitting right.

For some people, it’s going to be their jobs. They know they’re meant for more, something greater. Something fulfilling. Man Camp is going to give you the tools to seek that out. That could mean starting a business, or just finding a new job. Or even negotiation a new salary at your existing job.

For others, the issue is going to be in your romantic relationships. You feel lost. Floundering. You can’t meet women…or you keep dating the wrong ones, over and over.

At Man Camp, we’re going to have a ruthlessly honest conversation about why men make these mistakes, including intensely personal discussions with our speakers, to help us ALL fix these things.
